Italy has more than 500 native grape varieties, twenty wine regions and hundreds of denominations, and finding clear information in English isn't always easy. We built this site to help: whether you're a seasoned collector or just choosing a bottle for dinner, you'll find what each wine is, where it comes from and what to eat with it.
Wine details such as grapes, denomination, alcohol and ageing come from the technical sheets published by producers and Italian wine merchants. For denominations we rely on the official production rules (the disciplinari) and on the websites of the wine consortia that protect them, which we link from each denomination page whenever one exists.
Our guides and the descriptions of grapes, regions and denominations are drafted with the help of AI writing tools, working from the sources above and from our own wine data. Tasting notes and food pairings on individual wine pages are general suggestions based on the wine's grapes, style and region, not a personal tasting of every bottle. We update the site regularly, and when we find a mistake we fix it. The site is supported by advertising.
