Crafted from Nerello Mascalese 80% various red and white local grapes 20% , this wine expresses the unique terroir characteristics. Expect layered dark fruit aromas, firm tannins and a long, satisfying finish. The fruit is sourced from vineyards alberello and espalier vines average 50 years old at 600 metres above sea level on sandy, volcanic ash rich soils. Vinification: spontaneous fermentation with some whole clusters and maceration on the skins for 15 days in cement vats without temperature control. The wine is aged 16 months in Slavonian oak barrels. A wine reflecting the mineral intensity of Sicily's volcanic soils.
