This Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG stands as a benchmark for Lombardy's highest quality classification. Its 15.5% alcohol content underpins a rich, muscular structure. Crafted from Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) 100% , this wine expresses the unique terroir characteristics. Expect layered dark fruit aromas, firm tannins and a long, satisfying finish. The fruit is sourced from vineyards in a sandy soil supported by dry stone walls between 350 and 550 metres above sea level, faced to South. Vinification: drying of the grapes in boxes for 3-4 months and alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks with maceration on the skins for 15-20 days. The wine is aged 24 months in big French oak barrels. A wine true to the meticulous Lombard approach to winemaking.
Lombardy is best known for Franciacorta, Italy's finest sparkling wine appellation, alongside the alpine reds of Valtellina.
