Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, grown inland from the Adriatic coast, produces wines of laser-sharp acidity and fresh citrus and green almond character, with the best Riserva bottlings capable of aging for a decade or more — an unusual trait for an Italian white. On the red side, Marche is home to Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno, both built around Montepulciano grapes and offering approachable, food-friendly character.
