A fine example of Sicily winemaking, this Menfi DOC reflects generations of local expertise. With 12.5% alcohol, it strikes a confident balance between body and freshness. Crafted from Perricone 90%, Nerello Mascalese 10% , this wine expresses the unique terroir characteristics. Expect layered dark fruit aromas, firm tannins and a long, satisfying finish. The fruit is sourced from vineyards in a clayey soil near to the sea. Organic farming. Vinification: destemming, soft pressing, alcoholic fermentation on the skins with indigenous yeasts for 2 weeks in steel tanks and spontaneous malolactic fermentation in old barriques. Without filtrations. The wine is aged 12 months in old French tonneaux and at least 6 months in bottle. A wine reflecting the mineral intensity of Sicily's volcanic soils.
Volcanic soils around Mount Etna impart a distinctive mineral character found across many Sicilian wines.
